A Message from Carolyn, Bill and the Team

A Message from Carolyn, Bill and the Team. We know you are receiving countless emails about the coronavirus and the important things we should all be doing to protect ourselves, families, friends, co-workers and our communities.  But it does take a few reminders, doesn’t it? Keeping our hands away from our face is probably the most difficult, because we hadn’t realized just how often we do that!

We are a close-knit group here at American West Jewelry, so we feel pretty comfortable pointing things out to one another in order to stay healthy. Being so close also means we are used to hanging close together in meetings, at lunch, and while working on jewelry. Many of us are huggers too. Social distancing is a big focus for us currently, and thankfully, we have ample room for all of us to spread out while still being within smiling distance. We all need more smiles during times like this, especially if we can’t get a hug!

Because we consider you part of our family, we want to let you know we are being diligent about keeping our hands and work areas clean, as well as the jewelry we make and the packages we send off to you. We always wear gloves when handling your jewelry and the boxes we put them in. And because our greatest pride is knowing how our jewelry brings you joy, even in the toughest of times, we would like to share a little bit about the effects of hand sanitizers on jewelry.

The ethyl alcohol based hand sanitizers should not harm silver, but other chemicals in some hand sanitizers, such as chlorine, will cause damage to silver, gemstones and shell with prolonged use. It is always best to remove jewelry before using hand sanitizers.

As you know, we proudly design and craft all our jewelry in Albuquerque, New Mexico. All of us are grateful for your continued support during this difficult time. We know a lot of you are staying home, being asked to do more with each day. You are caregivers, homeschoolers, entertainment coordinators, voices of calm and reason~ on top of everything you already do. You are remarkable, remember that. We are here for you if you need a little pick-me-up for yourself or a gift for someone you can’t physically visit and hug. We’ll be active on Facebook to help ease the feeling of isolation for all of us. We’ll get through this together, after all, that’s what friends are for.

Please stay strong, safe, and positive.
