Holidays at the Gaylord Texan Resort

Holidays at the Gaylord Texan Resort! We’ve officially been designated the Christmas Capital of Texas, Grapevine hosts more than 1,400 Christmas events in just a little more than 40 days!  Whew!  Add to that, a beautifully decorated Carolyn Pollack Sterling Gallery located inside the Gaylord Texan Resort, it’s a wonder Santa and his crew hasn’t made a permanent change in address!

Grapevine, Texas, just minutes from Dallas/Fort Worth International Airport is the premier holiday destination in North Texas!   For an indoor winter wonderland, stay at the Gaylord Texan Resort and visit “ICE!”  Pull on a heavy parka (one will be provided) and walk through a maze of holiday-themed ice sculptures carved from 2 million pounds of colored ice!  Slide down ice slides and walk through a life-sized gingerbread house!  Stroll along the scenic landscape of the resort and gaze at the 12,000 ornaments, a 52-foot-tall rotating Christmas tree and wonder at the 1.5 million twinkling lights.  If all that wasn’t enough, visit Carolyn’s sterling gallery and let one of her seasoned stylists help you choose the perfect gift for yourself or that special someone in your life.

Just down the street, is Historic Downtown Grapevine, where you’ll find the Christmas spirit come alive with sights and activities for the whole family!  With more than 80 shops, winery tasting rooms and restaurants!

Hop aboard Grapevine Vintage Railroad’s North Pole Express for a magical family trip to the North Pole.  Along the way, elves lead passengers in singing Christmas carols until the train arrives at its enchanted destination.  Or, maybe the Christmas Wine Train is the rail line you choose.  The 21-and-older crowd can toast the holiday, too, with a two-hour ride with hors d’oeuvres and local Grapevine wine while singing Christmas carols.

In the heart of Historic Downtown Grapevine, you’ll find the beautifully restored art deco-style Palace Arts Center, home to the Palace Theatre and the Lancaster Theatre.  Built in 1930, it’s been a tradition for the last several years to take my family to see The Texas Tenors holiday show.  Showcasing their traditional Texan charm and vocal talents, this year “Deep in the Heart of Christmas” show, will be a must!  You can also watch some of your favorite holiday classics, such as White Christmas and It’s a Wonderful Life on the big screen.

Every night during the holiday season, beginning November 23, you can thrill at the Light Show Spectacular at Main Street and Dallas Road in Historic Downtown Grapevine.  The show features a brilliantly choreographed light show, as well as sing-alongs.

With so much to see and do in Grapevine this holiday, don’t forget to make stopping by Carolyn’s gallery top on your list.  Whether you are looking for that exclusive to the gallery piece or for a missing piece to your treasured collection, you’ll be thrilled at what you’ll find inside.

Wishing you the happiest of holidays,

Deborah, Becky and Laura
