Newsletter #4 from Laura — Part 1 of Open House

Part 1 of Open House in Albuquerque New Mexico.

First Stop: The Second Largest Canyon in the USA is in Texas!

When Bill & Carolyn decided to have an Open House Sale, I knew I had to be there! We quickly planned a Road Trip, complete with Willie Nelson On the Road Again music and more. First stop was a night in the heart of the Texas Panhandle at the Palo Duro Canyon, south of Amarillo. I hadn’t booked a hotel yet, so when I saw a “Glamping” Tent was available, I signed up for the glamorous camping, a night under the stars! The canyon was beautiful and full of life, see the “Mexican Skirt” rock formations. They reminded me of pendant jewelry or chandelier earrings. And, I had to share a pic of a turquoise wagon to hitch your Wild West dreams to!

El Pinto is truly New Mexican

Dinner at El Pinto was truly New Mexican, with outdoor garden dining to get you ready for livin’ la Vida Loca. Which included an uphill ride on the Sandia Tramway to see Albuquerque from the Sandia Peak.

You may shop for the Sandia Cuff and Ring, named by early Hispanic settlers for the “watermelon” color look of the mountain. Carolyn took that inspiration with the Spiny Oyster shell, plus Picture Jasper for the desert landscape and blue Turquoise for the sky. It’s in my collection to celebrate the homeland of AWJ!

I had to take a picture of the ZIA sign, it clearly defines the meaning, and are words to live by in the heart of the sunny Southwest. So much history and lore in the state of the Sun, plan your adventure of a lifetime!
